Wallumrød / Petrini / Wikström
Christian Wallumrød – keys / elektronics
Anna Petrini – Paetzold contrabass recorder
Qarin Wikström – vocals / elektronics
For Vinterjazz 2019, visionary Norwegian pianist, electronic keyboard wizard and composer Christian Wallumrød invited Swedish Anna Petrini (Paetzold contrabass recorder) and Swedish/Danish Qarin Wikström (vocals / elektronics) for a unique encounter. It turned out to be one of those lucky meetings where human and musical visions came together. It was the start of a new trio that has since played numerous concerts, both in jazz and contemporary music contexts. The trio engages in improvisations devoted the listening, the slow and the dark. An unsettling stream of silent sounds that can be interrupted at any moment by sudden bangs and short explosions.
Christian Wallumrød, Anna Petrini, and Qarin Wikström are prominent figures in contemporary music. Wallumrød, a Norwegian composer and pianist, is known for blending jazz, classical, and experimental music, often incorporating minimalist and improvisational elements. Swedish recorder player Anna Petrini specializes in contemporary music, particularly with the Paetzold contrabass recorder, where she explores innovative sounds and techniques. Qarin Wikström, a Swedish vocalist and electronic musician,, fuses jazz, improvisation, and experimental sound art, combining acoustic and electronic elements to create her unique, genre-defying style.
